Recognising the rapid advance in the field of information technology in recent years, the Board felt the need to upgrade the Computer Science syllabus for standard XII, bifocal stream.
Accordingly, emphasis was given on topics, such as object oriented programming. visual/GUI based programming and the world of networks and Internet. The Board modified the syllabus to be implemented from 2001-2002 for standard XII Computer Science. The first examination as per new syllabus will held in March 2002.
This book is prepared as per the new syllabus for standard XII Computer Science, bifocal stream. For scope, the books mentioned in the syllabus are referred. This book will be useful for those appearing for standard XII Computer Science course. This book will also be useful for those who wants to understand concepts of Computer Science. Concepts of Operating Systems, Data Structure, Object Oriented Programming, HTML, Microprocessor, Microcontroller, Networking and Internet are explained with examples. A book with so many advanced topics in Computer Science is unique of its kind. A student of any branch will find this book useful to him.
There are two papers, paper-I and paper-II for standard XII. Paper-1 consists of four topics and paper-II consists of five topics. The first topic in paper-1 is operating system. In operating system we start with what is operating system and the go on explaining concepts of information management, process management and memory management. Concepts of GUI and security aspects of operating system are also explained. A brief overview of Windows 98, Windows NT and LINUX is also given.
The second topic from paper-l is data structures. We start with definition of data, data structure and go on explaining the data structures arrays, linked lists and trees. Algorithms for different operations on these data structures are given. The third topic from paper-1 is C++. The C++ is divided into two parts. The first part upto functions appears in syllabus of standard XI. In review of C++, I have covered this part in brief. Principles of object oriented programming are explained in this topic. Arrays, classes and objects, constructors, virtual functions, Inheritance are explained with suitable examples. Numerous programming examples are given on these topics. All these programs have been tested and executed by me on computer
